Alfons Mucha

The Slav Epic: Mucha’s most ambitious work, the Slav Epic, is a cycle of paintings that explores the history of the Slavic people. It was meant to be a contribution to the national identity of the Czechs and other Slavic nations. He spent years working on this project, and it remains one of his most significant legacies.
World War I: During World War I, Mucha became involved in efforts to support Czech independence and was a strong advocate for the creation of Czechoslovakia. Later Life: Mucha lived in the United States briefly and then returned to Prague in the 1920s.
